What is TRVL?
TRVL is a new way to book travel accommodation. It recognises that you’re already doing the work that used to be done by travel agents, and actually rewards you for it.
Whether you’re recommending a hotel for a city break, an apartment for a business trip or accommodation for a longer holiday, TRVL will show you the best prices available. What’s more, you can even earn commission by making recommendations and referrals to your friends and other travellers online.
The website is the creation of Jochem Wijnands. He’s been travelling the world since he made his first solo trip to Paris at 16 years old.
When Jochem was planning a trip to Mexico, a work colleague recommended a hotel in a tiny village called Yelapa. She said it was perfect for his trip – simple, but ideally located on the beach and with its own natural pool.
Jochem booked the hotel and she was right. It was perfect!
The idea came to him while he was relaxing on the beach at Yelapa. Wouldn’t be be wonderful to have that kind of personal travel advice every time you were booking accommodation online?
How does TRVL work?
In many ways, TRVL is similar to other travel search websites that you may have used before. Simply put in your travel details, and a range of accommodation is presented to you.
You get access to pricing from a range of popular websites and can easily choose the best deal to suit you. And you can filter the selection by star rating, room price or the facilities available at the accommodation.
But this is where TRVL differs from other sites…
Like other sites, TRVL receive commission whenever you making a booking through them. But unlike other sites, some of this commission is passed on to you if someone books the hotel through your link.
It’s really easy to share your recommendation link via email or various social media platforms. You can also add a personal note to each recommendation. Then if your recommendation results in a booking being made through your link, you will receive commission for that booking. It’s brilliant!
Bookings are usually confirmed in 30-60 days after the guests have checked out, and you can keep track of them in your account Dashboard. You can then request to have the commission paid out, and you should see the money in your bank account 2-3 days later.
At the moment TRVL only covers accommodation, but there are plans to expand into car rentals and activities in the future.
How do you sign up to TRVL?
Signing up to TRVL is really simple. You can either use your email address to set up an account on the site, or log in using Facebook, Google or LinkedIn.
There are no fees to pay for a standard TRVL account, which gives you access to all of the services on the website apart from Insider rates.
What are Insider rates? That’s another special feature on TRVL!
What is TRVL Insiders?
As well as all of the standard TRVL features, an Insider account also allows you to access special Insider rates. They’re amazing deals that are not available to the public, with up to 65% off the regular cost of the accommodation.
Insider rate bookings are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled. Generally you’ll get a standard double room, but you may be lucky and get an upgrade if the hotel has availability.
A TRVL Insider account* costs £14.99 per year, and you won’t pay any booking or subscription fees. Because these are extra-special rates, you can’t share them like the regular deals, and there is no commission available on Insider rates.
Your TRVL Website
The last big difference with TRVL is that every member gets their own customisable homepage. This is a great way to show your expertise, share your recommendations and earn commission.
This is a great way to show others your travel knowledge, and hopefully convince them to book their accommodation through your link.
You can see it my TRVL website in the photo above. And I’ve started adding in links to some of the hotels that I’ve stayed in recently.
You can add some information about yourself, add a profile pic and cover photo. The bio section lets you tell your visitors about yourself, your travel experience and your site.
Then pick out a particular travel niche or area of expertise, like Luxury Travel, Family Travel or even Scuba Diving. The final step is to start adding recommendations for the destinations that you’re most passionate about, and your favourite hotels.
TRVL offers an innovative way to share your travel recommendations as well as great prices for your own bookings. Plus if you sign up through this link*, you’ll get a $20 bonus when you make your first confirmed booking.
