Superdrug Optimum PhytoDeluxe range

Superdrug's Optimum PhytoDeluxe day and night creams are premium skincare products for over-40 skin, but without the premium pricetag (sponsored post)

Women often tell me that they want to take good care of their skin, but they are put off by the cost. At just £14.99 each, the Optimum PhytoDeluxe range from Superdrug offers premium skincare without the premium price tag.

Disclosure: Superdrug sent me Optimum PhytoDeluxe day and night creams for review, but the opinions in this post are my own and unbiased.

Since I turned 40 earlier this year, I’ve really been trying to take better care of my skin. Collagen levels in our skin begin to fall from our mid-twenties onwards, but it’s around 40 that the signs become really visible. Fine lines, wrinkles and loss of skin tone are all due to the drop in collagen production. So skincare that is targeted at the over-40 age group really needs to address these specific needs.

A lot of women want to look after their skin better, but the price of premium skincare doesn’t fit into their budget. If this sounds like you, then the new over-40 skincare range from Superdrug is definitely worth looking into.

What They Say

The Optimum PhytoDeluxe includes two products – an Indulgent Day Cream and a Comforting Night Cream. Both of these products contain Black Diamond Truffle Extract, a highly valued extract which helps to give cells the energy to repair and defend themselves. They also contain Platinum Matrix-EM, a formulation which is used by high end skincare brands. It delivers nano-particles of platinum into the skin, stimulating the production of collagen.

Optimum PhytoDeluxe is designed to pamper over-40 skin and counteract the visible signs of ageing. With regular use, skin appears smoother, firmer and more luminous. The Indulgent Day Cream also contains SPF15, which protects against the ageing effects of the sun. The Comforting Night Cream contains Shea Butter to help renew the skin’s softness and suppleness.

First Impressions

I’m definitely getting a high-tech, scientific vibe from these products. The Optimum PhytoDeluxe packaging is simple, and looks very clean and crisp. Both products come in a pump dispenser, which I always think seems more hygienic for skin creams.  The creams both smell good but the scent is quite strong, which came as a bit of a surprise initially.

My Thoughts

Although I have only used these products for a week or so, I have been very impressed by them. I like how quickly the day cream was absorbed, especially as it feels like a very rich cream.

And I really liked the night cream, which feels very luxurious when you apply it. It sinks into the skin very easily, and doesn’t leave the greasy feeling that some night creams do. My skin is left feeling pampered, soft and smooth.

I am lucky to have reasonably good skin, so it’s hard to see whether any of my fine lines have been reduced yet. However my skin feels very nicely hydrated, and I don’t have any of the dry patches that I often get in the colder weather. I was a bit worried that I might have a reaction to the scent, but my skin has stayed very clear with no breakouts.

Superdrug Optimum PhytoDeluxe – The Verdict

Superdrug’s first premium skincare range is very impressive, especially as the products cost just £14.99 each. The products are definitely equal to some of the pricier options on the market. If you are around 40 and feel that your skin has started to need a little extra help, I definitely recommend taking a look at the Optimum PhytoDeluxe range.

Superdrug Optimum PhytoDeluxe is available from Superdrug online and in store.

Both products look great! I love the packaging which I know should’t be a reason to buy something but often gives away how much effort hey’ve put into the product. Plus your review of the products sound great x

This sounds good and it’s not too expensive as far as beauty products go. I’ll have to have a look next time I’m in Superdrug.

I love the look of the packaging. The price is awesome and I’m actually going to get some of this for my mum and mother in law for Christmas as they love trying new skincare.

I’ve been thinking about this, and I don’t think it can hurt to give them a try, but you probably don’t *need* to use them just yet. Collagen does start to break down from mid-20s though, so it’s worth using something a bit more than when you were a teen.
