My Sunday Photo: Stormy Arbroath Sea

This week's Sunday photo is a shot of Arbroath Harbour after a long day of heavy rainfall.

When I arrived in Arbroath on my recent visit, the rain was falling heavily. In fact, that’s an understatement – it was practically coming down sideways! In the ten minutes it took me to walk from the station to my hotel, my jeans and coat were totally soaked through. For a while it looked as if the day was going to be a complete write off. But suddenly, mid-afternoon, the rain stopped and the grey clouds cleared.

As you can see in this photo, the sea was still very choppy and I saw a few people get caught out by waves that made it over the harbour wall. But I reckon that’s a small price to pay for such a stunning view!

I’ll be sharing more from my trip to Scotland over the coming weeks here on SallyAkins.com.

  1. I live by the seaside, in the South, and the weather has been so strange here all weekend. There was heavy rain for 20 minutes and then sunny again for a few hours, then repeating again. I was actually on a boat and it was quite a bumpy ride.

  2. I love listening to the crash of the waves, it’s so relaxing. I live half an hour’s drive away from Skegness, and I often go there in the winter just to chill out!

    • I live right in the middle of England, and I do miss the sea a lot. That’s one of the reasons I love going back to Portugal each summer, because I can hear the sea all day long!
