Today I’m thrilled to be hosting the blog tour for Carol Wyer’s fantastic new novel, Suddenly Single*.
Life in your thirties can be confusing at the best of times, but even more so if you suddenly discover that your husband has been unfaithful.
That’s the situation that Chloe Piper finds herself in, and even before the decree absolute comes through, she has moved into a gorgeous new home in the countryside.
And there’s an additional complication. Chloe is also living with crippling social anxiety, and the thought of having to mix with a whole new social group makes her want to lock herself in her new home with her dog, Ronnie.
But her bubbly new neighbour Eleanor has different ideas. She soon gets Chloe involved with her new business idea, a singles club, which means that Chloe is soon mixing with all sorts of new friends.
The handsome property developer, Alex, is one of these friends, as is the Canadian bookshop owner Sean, . But of course, things never run smoothly and Chloe’s divorce might not be quite as straightforward as she thinks.
I really enjoyed reading Suddenly Single*. It’s a frothy romantic comedy, with plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments.
The characters are all fun, and I soon warmed to Chloe. She’s making the best of an awful situation, and battling against an anxiety disorder which makes every social situation much more difficult.
Suddenly Single has a fantastic supporting cast, with Chloe’s neighbour Eleanor and her literary agent Faith being particular favourites. I also loved the sub-plot about Chloe struggling to come up with a plot for her ‘difficult’ second novel. And of course I can’t leave out Chloe’s gorgeous dog, who gets into all sorts of mischief.
You won’t be surprised to hear that this novel comes with a happy ending. Well, it wouldn’t be right otherwise, would it?
But I did like the way that Carol Wyer wove the different strands of the story together to give a satisfying conclusion to Chloe’s story.
If you love authors like Marian Keyes or Milly Johnson, then this is definitely a book for you. Carol Wyer writes both gripping thrillers and romantic comedies, and after reading Suddenly Single I’m certainly going to check out her other novels.
When bestselling romance author Chloe Piper’s marriage implodes a week before Christmas, she flees her cheating ex and the village gossips for the solitude of the newly built Sunny Meadow Farm and the company of her hapless dog, Ronnie.
But Chloe is soon pushed out of her comfort zone. Because with a lively development building crew – headed up by charming Alex – and a larger-than-life neighbour determined to make Chloe’s love life her pet project, Chloe finds herself in a whole new world of chaos…
This enthralling romantic comedy of self-discovery and new beginnings is perfect for fans of Kirsty Greenwood, Colleen Coleman and Marian Keyes.
A fun novel, perfect for all lovers of romantic comedy fiction- 7.5/10
