It feels like Winter 2018 lasted for ever. But Spring is finally here, and Summer is only just around the corner.
So it’s the perfect time of year to cast away your winter woolies and indulge in some pampering ready for sunny days and long relaxed evenings.
I’ve pulled together a selection of products to prepare your skin and pamper yourself ready for the warmer weather ahead.
There are some skincare goodies, new colours for nails and some great new cosmetics as well. And I’m going to kick the selection off with a gorgeous new scent that’s perfect for Spring and Summer.
Treat Yourself to a New Scent for Spring
If you’re a fan of Michael Bublé, then you might already have bought his first signature scent for women, By Invitation.
This year he has a new scent that’s absolutely perfect for Spring days and warm summer evenings. By Invitation Rose Gold has top notes of Magnolia and red fruits, with mid notes of Rose, Peonie and Black Plum. And then the warmth of Vanilla, Praline and precious spice make this a very inviting scent.
It’s a floral perfume, but the spice and warmth of the base notes mean that it isn’t overly sweet. And the bottle is so pretty that it will look beautiful on any vanity stand.
Take Care of your Face
Winter is so harsh on your face, and this year it feels like Winter went on for longer than ever. The cold winds really punish your skin and then inside, you face the drying effects of central heating.
So Spring is a great time to give your skin a bit of pampering ahead of the warmer weather that we’re hopefully going to enjoy. And I’ve picked out some products that are ideal for this time of year.
No7 Revitalising Hot Cloth Cleanser* is a fantastic way to clean your skin. I’ve been a fan of hot cloth cleansers for a long time. You simply massage it into your skin, and then use a cloth soaked in warm water to remove the cleanser along with your make up and the rest of the day’s residue.
This cleanser has a pleasant scent and a really rich feel to it. The cleanser is supplied with one muslin cloth, but I usually use a washi cloth instead.
I’m also a big fan of No7 Instant Results Hydration Mask*, which I’ve been using for several years. It’s a really thick and luxurious mask that gives your skin an immediate boost of hydration.
I love using it when my skin gets dry from too much sun exposure. It’s also great to counteract the effect of central heating on dehydrated skin in the winter months. For more information, take a look at my full review of No7 Instant Results Hydration Mask.
And a good serum is always high on my list of skincare must-haves. Indeed Labs recently sent me their Hydraluron Moisture Booster Face Serum* to try out. And so far I’ve been really impressed with the results.
It contains a pure form of hyaluronic acid, an incredibly hydrating ingredient that can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. This is one of my favourite skincare ingredients, and I love the way it plumps up your skin.
I’ll be posting a full review of Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Booster Face Serum here on the blog in the next few weeks.
Intrigued by the Indeed Labs Nanoblur* in the photo above? Can it really act like an airbrush in real life? I’ll have a review of this ‘instant skin finisher’ here on the blog soon as well!
Pamper Hair and Body
Moving on from Skincare, don’t forget to pamper your hair and body as well. I’m still a big fan of Palmers Cocoa Butter*, and I use it every evening on my arms and legs. I love the cocoa butter scent, and the rich cream is so good at hydrating my skin. It’s particularly good for keeping my tattoos well hydrated!
But if you’re looking for a body moisturiser that’s quick to apply and sinks in easily, then take a look at Aveeno Daily Moisturising After Shower Mist*. This spray on moisturisers is so quick and easy to use, and you don’t have to wait ages for it to sink in. I love using this after my morning shower when I’m in a hurry.
It’s also important to exfoliate your skin to keep it smooth and prepare it for the summer months. Noble Isle’s Willow Song Body Scrub is formulated with nourishing natural extracts for gentle exoliation. It also hydrates your skin with Milk Thistle Oil and Water Lily. And on top of all that, it also smells divine!
There’s also a matching candle, which you can see in the photo at the top of the page, which would make a lovely gift for someone special. They are available online from the Noble Isle website as well as instore at Liberty of London.
Argan Oil is another product that is wonderful for dehydrated skin, and Natural World Argan Oil Miracle Oil* can be used on both your face and body. It’s a luxurious non-greasy oil which blends Moroccan Argan Oil with Peach Kernel oil, Sweet Almond oil and Evening Primrose oil. Use it every day on dry and dehydrated skin, and it can also be used as an after-sun oil or even in your bath.
And if your hair gets frizzy in the Spring and Summer months, then Natural World Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Therapy Shampoo* can help. It is infused with Keratin to help restore shine and softness to dry, frizzy hair.
Treat yourself to New Spring Nails
Picking out new nail polish colours is one of my favourite things at the start of a new season. And I love the new Spring 2018 Essie nail polish collection*.
I treated myself to three colours from the nautically-named Spring range. Perfect Mate to Sail is a peachy coral that feels very Spring-like, and Boy Boy-age is a fresh mint green. And I really love the dark, almost Navy blue of Anchor Down.
Essie nail polish is always easy to apply and the colours last really well. It’s definitely one of my favourite nail polish brands
The other nail colours you can see above are from the Barry M manicure range. Mani Mask is a conditioning nail treatment which leave a hint of colour and a semi-matte finish. I love to use these to give my nails a break from full polish, and they really seem to be helping to strengthen my nails. I have two colours in the photo above: baby pink Bashful*, which is a baby pink, and creamy champagne Birthday Suit* (my favourite!).
And I always make sure to pamper my hand with Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream*. Your hands do such a lot of work and the skin is so delicate, so it’s important to look after them well.
I’ve tried all sorts of hand creams and keep on coming back to this product. It’s a rich intensive gel-cream which lasts up to 8 hours, and it really cares for my skin and nails. It’s expensive, but well worth the investment.
I keep a tube on my desk and another on my bedside table, to make sure that I remember to use it regularly
Spring Cosmetics to Try
There always a raft of new cosmetics out in the Spring, and I’m not even going to attempt to cover them all. But I’ve picked out one old favourite and two new products that you might want to try.
I’ve recently returned to No7 Airbrush Away foundation* as part of my regular make up routine. To be honest, I’d forgotten what a gorgeous, velvety finish it gives!
It gives buildable coverage and blurs away fine lines and pores. And with 17 shades in the range, you should be able to find one to suit. For more information, click here to read my review of No7 Airbrush Away Foundation.
I’ve also recently picked up this new cushion foundation from No7 to try out. No7 Aqua Perfect Cushion Foundation* is designed for quick and easy application, without sacrificing results.
The applicator sponge makes application quick and fuss free, while the foundation itself is infused with purified water for a cooling effect and hydrated skin.
I’ll be trying out this product over the next couple of weeks. I’ll post my full review towards the end of the month.
And I absolutely love trying out new mascaras, so when this new one from Bourjois caught my eye, I had to have it!
Bourjois Eye Catching mascara* promises to deliver an irresistable ‘cats eye’ look, adding both volume and curve. I’ll be posting a full review later this month but so far, I’m absolutely loving this product!
