It’s a while since my last mascara review, and I’ve had this product in use for a while now. But False Lash Superstar X Fiber* is so good that I just had to let you know about it!
I’m a bit of a mascara junkie and always have loads of different products on the go. Way back in June 2015, I reviewed L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar here on SallyAkins.com. It was one of my first mascara reviews, and I really loved the product at the time.
So when I spotted this new False Lash Superstar X Fiber in the shops, I knew I’d have to try it out. I bought it straight away, and I’ve been using it ever since. But for some reason, I didn’t get around to posting a review – time to put that right today!
It’s so long since I bought this mascara that it’s a bit hard to remember my first impressions! In fact, I re-purchased it the other day which is what jogged my memory about writing this review.
Like the original False Lash Superstar, this is a two step mascara. It comes in a gorgeous purple glossy tube, with two brushes extending from the centre section. I absolutely love this packaging, it’s definitely one of my favourites and looks so eye-catching.
When you open up the mascara, you can see that the brushes are different shapes. The first brush, for the primer, has a narrow hourglass shape. The brush is more of a curved shape, and this is used for the second stage of the mascara.
What They Say
L’Oreal Paris claim that this mascara gives the “ultimate false lash look without the hassle of false lashes or eyelash extensions”. The second stage has 20 times more fibres than the original False Lash Superstar, to give “Extreme length, extreme volume, extreme buildability”
As I said above, I really like this mascara. The first stage of the mascara is a volumising primer which makes your lashes look thicker. Because it’s a black primer, there’s definitely not going to be any problem with patches showing through the top coat! This stage has a slender hourglass shaped primer which makes it very easy to apply.
The second stage uses fibres to build and extend your lashes. I have quite sparse and straight lashes, but the curved brush really seems to grab hold every tiny lash. I wouldn’t say that the effect is quite the same as false lashes, but you might get that effect if you have more lashes than I do. Both stages go on very easily and without any real problem with clumping, the brushes do a good job of separating my lashes.
I found that this mascara strikes a pretty good balance between lasting well and being easy to take off. I don’t have too much of a problem with smudging, although some of the fibres do escape occasionally. Because of this, I’m not sure how suitable this would be for contact lens wearers, or if you have particularly sensitive eyes. It’s quite easy to take off though, and doesn’t require any heavy duty rubbing.
False Lash Superstar X Fiber – the Verdict
Overall, I think this mascara really delivers on its claims, which is why it’s become one of my go-to mascaras. On days when I am wearing little makeup, this gives my lashes a bit of extra oomph so that my eyes don’t disappear behind my glasses.
And when I’m going out for the evening and have gone for a smokey eye, this is the perfect mascara to finish the look.
The fact that I’ve just re-purchased this mascara probably tells you everything you need to know. I absolutely love it!
