After the last two very difficult years, the 111th Newport Show took place at Chetwynd Deer Park near Newport in Shropshire on 9th July 2022.

With no Covid restrictions required at last, visitors to the show were treated to a wonderful day out packed full of exciting things to do, delicious things to eat and even fantastic Summer weather!

Other commitments meant that I was only able to pay a flying visit to this year’s show. But I was able to take a good look around and soak in the joyful atmosphere of this historic event.

How to get to Newport Show

Newport Show takes place at Chetwynd Deer Park, around a mile outside the market town of Newport in Shropshire.

It’s easy to get to Newport by car, as it is around 15 minutes’ drive from Junction 3 of the M54. Once you reach Newport, you can park in the town centre and take the free shuttle bus up to the showground.

Alternatively, you can use the Park and Stroll facility – parking is available at Newport Rugby Club and then it’s just a short walk over to Chetwynd Deer Park.

Farming displays

Newport Show is packed full of exhibitions, displays and competitions about farming, both modern and traditional.

There was also a parade of more than 80 vintage tractors in the main show ring, some of them dating back to the early 20th century.

You can also see a whole host of farm animals up close, this year including some large Orpington chickens, and there are show classes for both cattle and sheep.

When they aren’t in the show ring, the animals can rest in the cool shade of Chetwynd Deer Park’s tall trees, while you can take a look and chat to the owners. Strict hygiene precautions are in place including disinfectant mats and hand wash stations.
