Get a bright start to the week with Motivation Monday!
Have you ever noticed how when you buy a car, all you can see on the road is cars like your own? You might never usually see a black Picanto, but buy one and suddenly they’re turning up everywhere!
It’s the same with your mental attitude. If you’re in a negative mood, suddenly everything seems to be bad news, bad luck, bad times. And that just makes your mood worse, and you end up spiralling ever lower.
I know, I’ve been there myself. That was my outlook a few years ago, and I really struggled to see anything positive in the world.
Eventually I got sick of being such a miserable cow (being blunt!) and decided to make myself look for the positive in things. The more I looked for the good in people, the more easily I saw it. Suddenly the world seemed a nicer place to live in, and I guess that I probably became a nicer person to live with!
Then I started paying it forward and doing random acts of kindness. Just little things like paying for coffee for the person in front of me in the queue, that kind of thing. And I tell you what, seeing the smile on their face made me feel good as well.
Obviously a bit of positive thinking doesn’t help cure clinical depression or deal with major issues. But sometimes things look negative because we’re not open to the positive in life. What do you think?
Whatever plans you have for the days ahead, I hope you have a wonderful week!
