L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar Mascara review

L'Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar Mascara

You’ve probably seen the adverts for L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar – they are glamorous, black and white affairs featuring Jennifer Lopez. L’Oreal Paris describes their product as a ‘2-step mascara for super-sized, super-long, superstar lashes that steal the show.’  I was really keen to see if the product lived up to the super-hype.

Remember the old 2-step mascaras? The ones which left your eyelashes white after the first step, and then you had to try and cover it all with the second step. There always seemed to be a little bit that you missed…

Yes, L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar mascara is a 2-step mascara, but don’t worry! It’s not a bit like the ones you used to use, and this has quickly become one of my favourite mascaras.

The packaging on this mascara follows on with the glamorous theme of the advertising. I think it is gorgeous, and looks and feels more expensive than the £10.99 price tag would suggest. Inside the tube are two long thin bristle brushes which I found allowed me to reach all of my lashes easily.

So does L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar live up to its promise?

Here’s the before photo of me with no mascara on. You can see that I have short lashes that don’t curl much. I didn’t curl my lashes or use a primer for these photos, so you will be able to see the effect of the mascara.

The first step of is a volumising primer. The corset-shaped brush easily coated my lashes, and I didn’t have any problem with clumping. The primer is white when you apply it, but dries to a semi-translucent colour. This means covering it over with the second step isn’t so much of a chore!

The second step is a fibre-enriched lengthening top coat, in a deep black colour. I found this easily covered the primer, and I couldn’t see any white remaining after applying the top coat. My lashes definitely look much longer and the mascara gives them a lovely lift and curl.

I have been using L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar pretty regularly since it hit the High Street. I usually put the primer on before I do my brows, which gives it time to dry thoroughly. I then apply the top-coat twice, giving a really dramatic effect.

L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar – the Verdict

I really like this mascara, and it has quickly become one of my most-used mascaras. I wouldn’t use it on a day where I’m aiming for a more natural look, but if you want dramatic lashes then it’s definitely one to try.

L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar is available on the High Street and online at £10.99
