This week’s video comes from Hestercombe House near Taunton in Somerset. Take a look around the house and gardens on my video tour.

Last month, I took my family to Taunton in Somerset for a long weekend break. We stayed in a gorgeous castle apartment at Taunton Castle

As part of our weekend, we were invited to visit Hestercombe, a beautiful stately home near the village of Cheddon Fitzpaine. It’s about a 15 minute drive from Taunton, which makes it an ideal day trip if you’re staying in the town.
Hestercombe has has a history which stretches back for centuries and has been remodelled several times. Since 1997, the house and gardens have been maintained by the Hestercombe Gardens Trust.
The house sits in 50 acres of grounds, and when we visited in February 2018, we explored some of the gardens. In this video, you’ll see both the interior of the house and also some of Hestercombe Gardens. This includes the stunning Edwardian Formal Garden, designed by Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens.

I love stately homes. Such beautiful architecture and it’s really interesting to see how the other half live (or lived)
I could really imagine what it must have been like at Hestercombe when people were living there
