Disclosure: I was sent LQ Liquid Health Skin, Hair & Nails for review purposes, but the opinions below are my own and unbiased.
In the search for good skincare, I love trying out different products. But skincare isn’t just about what you put on your skin – it’s about what you put into your body as well. And that’s becomes even more important when you are over 40, as collagen levels in your skin really start to decrease around that age.
I recently posted about Skin Care After 40, and afterwards I was invited to give LQ Liquid Health’s Skin, Hair & Nails liquid supplements a try. Saying ‘yes please’ to that offer was a very easy decision. You see, collagen is the most abundant naturally occurring protein in your body, and up to 70% of your skin is made of collagen. Falling collagen levels aren’t just responsible for lines and wrinkles on your face, they can also cause those general aches and pains as well. Drinking liquid collagen can have benefits not just for your skin, but also for your hair, bones, and nails – click here for more info.
Putting collagen-enriched creams on your face can help with the fine lines and wrinkles, but drinking collagen allows it to work throughout your body. No skin cream can do that!
So let’s take a look at what’s inside LQ Liquid Health’s Skin, Hair & Nails liquid collage supplement. Each 50ml bottle contains 7000mg of high quality hydrolysed Peptan™ collagen, which has high bioavailability. That means that it’s easy for your body to take up the collagen and make use of it. It also includes hyaluronic acid (one of my favourite skincare ingredients!) and Grape Seed extract, which contains resveratrol – another great skin booster. Vitamin C and E are antioxidants which protect against the harmful effects of free radicals.
The supplement also includes Selenium and Biotin (Vitamin B7) which are important for the maintenance of normal nails, skin and hair. Because all of these ingredients are in liquid form, they get to work quicker than if you were taking tablets.
And do you know what else? This supplement actually tastes great! I was a bit nervous about drinking it because some supplements I’ve tried in the past have tasted awful. But it has a pleasant passion-fruit flavour which means that this is a health supplement that I’m very happy to be taking each day.
LQ Liquid Health Skin, Hair & Nails costs £29.99 for 10 bottles, and you drink one bottle per day. Look out for my full review later in the month!
