Don’t forget the drivers this festive season! My Festive Fizz mocktail is perfect for Christmas Day or toasting the New Year.
The next week is all about celebration, and there are certain times when a glass of cola just doesn’t cut the mustard. Whether it’s Christmas morning, or the strike of midnight on New Year’s Day, sometimes you need a flute of something cold and sparkling on hand.
So when you are hosting friends and family this festive season, don’t forget to provide a celebratory drink for the drivers as well. Of course, it’s not just drivers who might be avoiding alcohol. You also need to consider pregnant guests and nursing mothers, people on medication and those who choose not to drink alcohol.
My Festive Fizz mocktail is quick and easy to mix up as an alcohol-free alternative to champagne. It uses Feel Good Drinks Slightly Sparkling Apple and Elderflower drink as a base. Feel Good Drinks are wonderfully refreshing and contain nothing but fruit juices and water. They are great to have on hand in the party season.
Festive Fizz Mocktail (makes 1 glass)
White Grape Juice (I use Waitrose own brand)
Feel Good Drinks Slightly Sparkling Apple & Elderflower drink
Raspberries or Strawberries
Chill all of the drinks in advance.
Pour the White Grape Juice into a chilled champagne flute until it is around one-quarter full. Top up with the Apple & Elderflower drink, and pop in 1-2 raspberries to garnish.
As an alternative garnish, slice halfway into the bottom of a small strawberry and pop it on the side of the glass.
