If you’ve ever dreamed of living in a castle, you’ll love Castle House in Taunton. Take a look around in this video tour!
I was invited to spend a few days at Castle House in Taunton, Somerset with my family, thanks to Classic Cottages.
I have to admit that when I was a little girl, I often dreamed of living in a castle. So the chance of spending a few nights sleeping in one was definitely too good to pass up!
Taunton is the county town of Somerset, a rural county in the South West of England. The castle in Taunton dates back to the 12th Century, and lies right in the middle of the town. This means that Castle House is perfectly located for a short stay in Taunton, and a great place to base yourself from if you fancy exploring the local area.
Nowadays Castle House is owned by the Museum of Somerset, which has its home within Taunton Castle. The bottom floor is used by the Museum, but the top two floors of the house form a self-contained apartment. And that’s where my family stayed over the first weekend of half term.
The apartment has four bedrooms, and sleeps seven people. You can also fit in two cots if required – but you’ll need to bring those with you. There are two bathrooms, and the apartment is very spacious, so it’s ideal for hosting a large group of friends or extended family.
So here’s a video tour of Castle House: a castle that you can actually stay in:
