This giveaway is now closed, and the winner will be announced shortly!
Every celebration needs a cake, so I was thrilled when bakerdays sent me a Letterbox cake to celebrate my 6th Blog Anniversary. And now one lucky SallyAkins.com reader will win a Letterbox cake of their own in my fantastic giveaway.
bakerdays make gorgeous personalised cakes in a wide range of different designs to suit every occasion. You can choose from vanilla sponge, rich chocolate chip, lovely lemon drizzle and a fabulous fruit cake.
The range also includes gluten free or dairy free cakes, which are ideal for those with allergies and intolerances. Or if you prefer, you could choose personalised cupcakes which are available in vanilla and chocolate sponge as well.
But what I think is most exciting is their range of Letterbox gift cakes. As the name suggests, these are specially packaged 5″ cakes that can be delivered through your letterbox!
How to Order a Letterbox Cake from bakerdays
Ordering a Letterbox cake is really simple. First of all you need to browse through the range of designs on the website, and pick your favourite. There’s everything from birthday cakes for all ages, to Christmas, Hanukkah and Diwali cakes. There are even cakes for passing your driving test or moving into a new home.
I picked this Champagne Moments cake, which I thought was perfect for celebrating a Blog Anniversary.
Once you have chosen your design and the size of your cake, next you need to select your flavour. Letterbox cakes start at £14.99 for the vanilla sponge, and there’s a small additional charge for the other flavours.
I decided to go for the Lovely Lemon Drizzle flavour, because lemon drizzle is definitely one of my favourite cake flavours.
bakerdays cakes can be personalised, so you can use the design tool on the website to add text to your design. The text appears on the photo on the website as you type it, so you can see straight away how it will look.
After you’ve completed your order, you just have to wait for the cake to be delivered. It’ll stay fresh for up to 14 days, so you can place your order in good time before the special day.
bakerdays Cake delivered through your Letterbox
If you place your order before 2pm, your bakerdays Letterbox cake will turn up the very next day. The cake and packaging are designed to fit through standard letterboxes, so there’s no need to wait in for the delivery.
Inside the sturdy cardboard box, the cake is carefully packaged in a tin that will keep the cake fresh for up to 14 days. You should store the cake in a cool dry place, but not in the fridge.
And my bakerdays Letterbox cake looked fantastic. It was in perfect condition and the paper tag on the cake board made getting it out of the tin really easy.
Although I’d requested the Champagne Moments cake, I hadn’t requested any personalisation. So it was a lovely surprise when my cake turned up with a message of congratulations from the bakerdays team!
And then it was time for the all important taste test…
A Delicious Treat through the Post
I’ve tried a bakerdays Letterbox cake before, so I had high expectations for my Blog Anniversary cake. And it lived up to my expecations, and even exceeded them.
The lemon drizzle sponge was really moist, with a fantastic tangy lemon flavour. And it was all topped with plenty of sweet, soft fondant icing.
The 5″ Letterbox cake is enough for 3-4 generous servings. We really enjoyed the cake, and it was a fantastic way to celebrate my 6th Blog Anniversary!
bakerdays Letterbox gift cakes are the perfect way to send a treat to a friend or relative. It’s really simple to order, and the presentation and flavour of the cake are the perfect way to celebrate a special day.
