Have you been on a coach holiday recently? Until 2018, I hadn’t been on a coach for about 20 years, and the memories I had of coach travel weren’t exactly fond ones.

Picking the perfect destination is one part of your holiday, but the departure point matters too.
You don’t want to have to travel a long distance before your holiday even starts, and it’s even worse when you have to drive for hours once you get back home!

Now, you might have been put off coach holidays in the past because you have less than fond memories of travelling on coaches at school.

When you book your holiday, you can choose your seats which are reserved for the duration of your break. So you won’t need to rush to get on the coach first to pick the best seats.
Once on board, you’ll see that the coaches are spotlessly clean, with plush, comfortable seats. You can recline the seats if you want a quick snooze, just check with the person behind you first!
There’s plenty of leg room and adjustable footrests so that you can find a really comfy position for your journey. And air-con and tinted windows make the journey even more comfortable, even when a rare heat-wave hits the UK.
The coaches all have WiFi, so you don’t need to eat through your data on the journey. And the new Wave entertainment system allows you to choose from box sets, films and music to keep you entertained.
See why I say that the coaches are nothing like the ones you remember? But you can still pick your seats on the back row if you want to relive those school trip memories!
A Selection of Comfortable Hotels
Of course, the price of your National Holidays tour also includes accommodation on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
On some holidays, you’ll have the option to pay extra for a Select hotel so that you know where you’ll be staying. On others, you won’t find out where you’ll be staying until the day you arrive. But you can assume that you’ll be staying in a 3* or 4* hotel.
You can choose between either double or twin rooms when you book your holiday, and single rooms may be available for a small additional fee.
To give you an idea of the standard you can expect, we stayed in a Holiday Inn on my first trip with National Holidays. On my second tour, we stayed in a Mercure hotel.
Both of the hotels I stayed in were clean, with excellent service, and the buffet style meals were tasty.
Considering the standard of accommodation provided, it’s one more reason why National Holidays really do represent great value. In many instances, it would cost you nearly as much to just book the hotel!
Great Value Holidays
And National Holidays tours really do work out to be excellent value when you consider everything that is included.
For instance, the Mystery Tour that I went on would cost just £69 per person, including one night’s accommodation with dinner and breakfast.
Taking into account the cost of transport (no parking fees to pay) and entry into any attractions that are included in your chosen holiday, plus the accommodation and meals, you’ll be surprised at just how little a National Holidays break costs.

One of the vital parts of your National Holiday break is your driver. They don’t just get you from A to B, they help entertain you, keep you informed and generally make the holiday run smoothly.
Gary, in the picture above, was our driver when I went on a Mystery Weekend with National Holidays. Both he and his wife have been driving for National Holidays for years, and they love the camaraderie you get on board a coach.
And the other customers are just as vital for creating a fun atmosphere on the coach. I found that there was a real mix of ages on both the tours that I’ve taken with National Holidays, and that people tend to come back to National Holidays time and time again.
That has to be one of the best recommendations that a holiday provider can have, doesn’t it?
Stress Free Travel
And the best thing of all is how travelling with National Holidays takes the stress out of travel.
You have a generous 20kg luggage allowance (15kg for holidays to Jersey) and once you’ve loaded up your luggage and found your reserved seat, you can just sit back and relax as your driver takes you to your destination.
There’s no worrying about parking, and it’s a lot easier to deal with bad traffic when you’re not the one behind the wheel.
And once you reach your hotel, all of the check-in process, room allocations and mealtimes are taken care of for you. It’s just so incredibly simple!
