I’ve been trying out the Collagenesis range from Skinn recently. Read on to find out which products I loved, and which I wasn’t so sure about!
Disclosure: I received the Collagenesis by Skinn set from Ideal World for review. The opinions below are my own and unbiased.
When Ideal World celebrated their 17th birthday recently, they sent me the Collagenesis by Skinn set to try out. I’ve reviewed quite a few skincare products from Ideal World here on SallyAkins.com, including the fab Hand Restore cream from Skinn. I loved that product so much that it made my Top 10 beauty products for 2016 list. But I’d never tried their facial skincare products before, so I was really keen to see what the Collagenesis range would be like.
First of all, I absolutely adore the Collagenesis packaging. The silver combined with the shades of pink and yellow look so pretty on my skincare shelf, even if they are a nightmare to photograph. And three of the products come in pump-action bottles, which always gets a thumbs-up from me!
The Collagenesis range is formulated without waxes, parabens, petrochemicals or mineral oil, and is designed to help give skin a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance. The set includes four products: 24 Hour Youth Preservation Cream (50ml), together with the Stem Rejen Face Serum (30ml), Stem Rejen Eye Serum (15ml) and Lip Stem Rejen (15ml). Let’s take a look at each of the products in turn:
Collagenesis Eye Stem Rejen Elite
This is a light serum which is formulated with a plumping agent derived from the Guggul tree. It moisturises the eye area really nicely and can be used both daytime and at night. This serum is more liquid than the products that I usually use on my eye area, and that means it takes a little longer to sink in.
The serum has very little fragrance, and I really liked how well it moisturised my skin.
Collagenesis Lip Stem Rejen Elite
I can’t make up my mind about this product. It is a fairly rich serum that you apply to the area around your mouth, concentrating on any laughter lines or marionette lines. The cream contains an active ingredient derived from sesame seeds, which helps to diminish the appearance of lines. I found that there was a slight tingling sensation in the area after using the serum, which soon wears off.
I definitely saw an improvement in the appearance of my laughter lines when I used this serum. But to be honest, I’m not completely sure that I want to get rid of them. I like the fact that they show that I’ve done a lot of laughing! If that is a problem area for you, then this product is definitely worth checking out.
By contrast, I really like this serum. It is formulated with Snow Algae Powder and Alpine Rose to deliver deep long-lasting hydration. You can used this morning and at night-time, and follow it up with your moisturiser.
The serum is quite liquid, and has a delicate fragrance which I really liked. It left my skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
Collagenesis 24 Hour Youth Preservation Cream Elite
This is a face cream unlike any other that I’ve tried! It contains Caprylol Salicylic Acid to help improve top-level skin cell turnover, and active plant cells to revitalise skin. It smells amazing and has a really thick, almost solid, consistency in the jar – I wasn’t surprised to see Shea butter fairly high up on the ingredient list. You won’t just be able to scoop this out, I found that running my finger over the surface was the best way to get it out of the jar.
Once it’s on your skin though, it melts easily and is absorbed well. Combined with the Stem Rejen Elite serum, it left my skin feeling velvety smooth and gave me a great base for make-up. I found that I didn’t get any dry or oily patches during the day.
Skinn say that you can use this both during the day and as a night cream, simply increasing the amount that you use at night. I have quite dry skin, and I found that it wasn’t quite rich enough for my skin. I would probably prefer to continue using a dedicated night cream alongside this range.
Overall, I really liked the Collagenesis by Skinn range and found that it definitely left my skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. The Ultimate Collagenesis 4 Piece Set includes all four of these products, and costs £120.96 plus £5.99 P&P from Ideal World.
