Looking for alcohol-free drinks options? If you’re bored of yet another diet cola, the Fentimans range of soft drinks is something a little bit different.
Disclosure: I received a selection of drinks from Fentimans for review. The opinions below are my own and unbiased.
So are you glad that Dry January is over, or are you still feeling the benefits of cutting back on alcohol? I didn’t do Dry January this year, as you may have noticed from my Instagram feed. But Mark and I have both given up alcohol for January a few times in the past. I always find that it gives me a real boost of energy, and definitely helps to improve my sleep. This year, I decided to cut back the number of days that I drink during January and that has worked really well for me. I’m definitely planning on carrying this good habit on into February and beyond.
So that means I’ve been looking for some alcohol-free options so that I always have something interesting to drink. I want drinks that are refreshing, with interesting flavours, and preferably not full of chemicals. I’d like to be able to mix up interesting mocktails, or just grab a drink from the fridge if I’m short on time. Luckily Fentimans have got a range of drinks that pretty much meet all my requirements, and I was very happy to be sent a selection of their drinks recently.
Fentimans have been producing botanically brewed drinks for over 100 years, passing the process from generation to generation of the Fentimans family. They use natural flavours and herbal extracts to produce a really exciting range of soft drinks. All of the drinks are available in 275ml bottles, and you can buy some of the range in 750ml bottles.
The boys loved the sweet taste of the Cherry Cola while I liked the sharp, fiery flavour of the Ginger Beer. If you like a floral drink, then the Wild English Elderflower drink and the Rose Lemonade are perfect for you. But my absolute favourite is the Mandarin and Seville Orange Jigger. Most orange drinks are far too sweet for my taste, but the sharp sweetness of this is incredibly refreshing. It would be ideal for a hot summer’s day.
(Oh, and the Rose Lemonade is also a really delicious mixer for a floral gin. But don’t let me lead you astray…)
All of the Fentimans range are perfect to drink in a long, ice filled glass. But you can also use them to make a great mocktail as well. My Pomegranate Rose Fizz is a perfect non-alcoholic drink for Valentine’s Day dinner, or for a Mother’s Day brunch.
Simply quarter-fill a champagne flute with chilled pomegranate juice and top up with Fentimans Rose Lemonade, straight from the fridge. Add a few pomegranate seeds or a raspberry to garnish, and you’re all ready to celebrate. Or if you want to make a pitcher to share, just use 250ml of Pomegranate juice for each 750ml of Rose Lemonade. Add plenty of ice to keep it chilled – this would be fantastic for a summer barbecue or party.
