Setting goals helps me to stay more focused throughout the year. So today I’m setting myself some blogging goals for 2017 to keep my blogging progress on track. I’ve already set goals for reading, travel and more general lifestyle goals, but I wanted to do a separate list of goals for my blog.
Although 2017 will mark the fifth anniversary of my first post here on SallyAkins.com, I’ve only been blogging regularly for the last couple of years. It still feels like I have a lot to learn, but I guess that may never change! So here are my blogging goals for the next twelve months
Regular Posting Schedule
Although I managed to publish over 370 posts in 2016, there were a couple of months when my posting schedule was a bit haphazard. And there were a few times when I was ill or went away and didn’t have posts ready to publish. So in 2017 I’d like to make sure that I keep to a regular posting schedule, with a minimum of 5 new posts each week. That means I’m going to have to get organised and have my posts prepared in good time!
In 2017, I’d like to add some new content streams to the blog. I’ve got some great travel plans in place for the year ahead, so there will be more travel posts appearing. I’m also going to increase the number of new recipes on the blog, and relaunch my #BlogTips blogging series. Of course, you’ll still see the usual beauty posts, book reviews and lifestyle posts each week.
Revive my YouTube channel
I started my YouTube channel in 2015, and set a goal of uploading 1 new video per week during 2016. But in the event, I ending up posting absolutely nothing – as the year went on, it felt more and more difficult to get back into vlogging. So I’m setting an easier target of uploading at least 12 videos in 2017. Hopefully I should find it easy to reach this goal!
I’m also setting myself a very stiff goal of reaching my first 1000 subscribers. It will take some work seeing as I am currently at just 334 subscribers – why not pop over and subscribe?
I went to two blogging conferences in 2015, and planned to do the same last year. But the fates had other things in mind, and I had to cancel my tickets to the conferences that I booked. I’m going to set a goal of two conferences in 2017, and hope that I have better luck this time!
Focus on Social Media
I managed to grow all of my social media followings during 2016, and I’d like to continue this growth during 2017. My targets for each platform are as follows:
I also want to commit to engaging more on Twitter. I know I neglected it a little bit last year, and it’s such a fun place to chat.
An Anniversary Celebration?
I’ve always envied people who have a blogiversary to celebrate. Although my first blog post went live in September 2012, it feels wrong to say that I’ve been blogging for that long. The first few years were sporadic to say the least! But I think that it’s always good to grab any excuse for a celebration. So I will indeed be celebrating my blog’s fifth birthday in September – I’m just not quite sure how yet!
My First E-Book
This one is a goal that I’ve had in my head for at least the last two years. Maybe by putting it down in writing, it will force me to actually commit to it. I’d like to publish my first e-book, and am setting a goal of having it ready by the end of November at the latest.
